McCallister welcomes South Down drugs seizure

Ulster Unionist MLA John McCallister has praised the Police for their actions in seizing £350,000 worth of illegal drugs in Warrenpoint on Tuesday.

Mr McCallister said;

"I know that I speak for the entire community when I welcome the seizure of £350,000 worth of cannabis plants in the Bridge Road area of Warrenpoint on Tuesday.

It is absolutely essential that everyone assists the Police to remove the scourge of drugs and drug dealers from our communities.

In their desire to make money, drug dealers care nothing about families and communities, and the damage they do.

The Police do their utmost to cut off the supply of drugs by focusing on dealers and those who cultivate or import drugs, but society has a role to play as well in trying to reduce the demand for illegal drugs.

We must redouble our efforts to educate our young people about the damage drugs can cause and ensure that they stay clear of drugs and drug dealers.”
