Ulster Unionist MLA, Tom Elliott has said that news that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are to visit Northern Ireland in June as part of the Jubilee celebrations will come as a boost to the country.
Tom said:
“News that her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh are to visit Northern Ireland as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations is extremely welcome. It will be an honour to host Her Majesty during such a historic period of her reign.’
“It is also a positive step forward for us that Buckingham Palace have released advance notice of the visit. It is wonderful that the public are being given the opportunity to welcome Her Majesty to Northern Ireland.’
“This news will add to the high that will be felt across the country this weekend with all the Jubilee celebrations taking place.’
“I am also delighted to hear that Her Majesty will be presented with a piece of Belleek pottery. Belleek is an iconic Northern Irish brand that is recognised worldwide. I am in no doubt Her Majesty will be appreciative of this.’
