Beggs hails success of Carnlough’s own Brendan Rodgers

East Antrim MLA Roy Beggs has hailed the success of Carnlough man Brendan Rodgers in being appointed Manager of Liverpool Football Club.

The Ulster Unionist MLA said:

“Warmest congratulations are due to Brendan Rodgers on being appointed to one of the top jobs in British and European sport- Manager of Liverpool FC. It really is a remarkable story of a young man from Carnlough- he is still only 39- who had his playing career cut short by injury, becoming  one of the top coaches in the game.

Clearly Liverpool have been impressed by the style displayed by Brendan’s Swansea City team this year, which is testament to his coaching ability.  I should add that it was with great foresight that Larne Borough Council’s Sports Forum awarded him their local coach of the year trophy a couple of years ago.  The village of Carnlough and the entire borough of Larne will continue to be very proud of the achievements of one of their own.”
