Overend condemns violent armed robbers

Ulster Unionist MLA Sandra Overend has condemned the violent armed robbers who attacked a family in their home in South Londonderry injuring three people, including a 16 year old boy and a 70 year old woman.

The Mid Ulster MLA, said:

"This was clearly a very violent attack on defenceless people who had the right to feel safe in their home violated, and I condemn it unreservedly.

My first thoughts are with the family affected and in particular the 16 year old boy who was left in a critical condition. I know the entire community is praying for a full and speedy recovery from his injuries.

That the victims ranged from a 16 year old boy to a 70 year old woman indicates that those responsible have no regard or pity for anyone.

These are clearly extremely dangerous criminals and it is absolutely essential that they are caught before they can attack any more innocent people.

I would urge anyone who has any information, or who saw anything in the Mayogall Road area near Gulladuff around 2045 on Tuesday night, to contact the PSNI immediately.”
