Ulster Unionists welcome massive Bombardier boost to local economy

Ulster Unionist Economy spokesperson Sandra Overend MLA has hailed the news that Bombardier Aerospace has announced the biggest ever order in the Company’s history as a great boost for Northern Ireland plc.
The Mid Ulster MLA said:
“Northern Ireland has long been world renowned as the home of experts in the field of aerospace, dating back to the Short Brothers and through to the modern era with Bombardier Aerospace.
This latest order for 100 Challenger Jets, worth $2bn (£1.3bn) minimum and potentially worth $7bn (£4.5bn), is not only the biggest order in Bombardier's history, but the biggest in the history of private aviation.
This will secure 5,000 jobs in Northern Ireland and ensure that the local economy continues to benefit from the spending power of Bombardier’s local employees.
Given that the aerospace industry is anticipated to continue to grow over the next decade, I believe we can look forward to more good news stories from  one of Northern Ireland’s most respected high tech companies.”
