Swann congratulates local Pipe Bands on British Championship successes

Ulster Unionist Culture, Arts & Leisure spokesperson Robin Swann MLA has congratulated the local bands and drum majors who participated in the British Pipe Band Championships in Annan, Scotland at the weekend.

Mr Swann, who represents North Antrim, said:

“As Ulster Unionist Culture spokesperson I would like to pass on my congratulations to all the Northern Ireland bands and drum majors who participated in the British Pipe Band Championships in Annan, Scotland at the weekend.

Northern Ireland has a long and proud tradition in this field, consistently producing excellent pipe bands and this year proved to be no exception.

The highlights included the Field Marshall Montgomery winning a 50th major title in grade one with the PSNI, Ballybriest and Tullylagan also winning in their respective classes.  Local Drum Majors also enjoyed success.

This is the result of a great deal of hard work and dedication throughout the year and I commend all the bands and drum majors who participated and wish them every success in the future.”
