Empey raises plight of Ulster Bank customers during Question Time in the House of Lords

Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Empey has pressed the Treasury Minister, Lord Sassoon on the “continuing and disastrous” handling of the crisis at Ulster Bank by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Lord Empey said

“It was totally unacceptable that people were left in this position to begin with; enormous damage was being caused to the public’s confidence in our banks.  It is hard to believe that such a crisis could go unresolved for so long in 2012.’

“The Minister will give a full account to the House tomorrow morning, I look forward to hearing this and the plans that are in place to deal with the situation.’
