North Antrim Ulster Unionist MLA and Culture spokesman Robin Swann has urged all those with an interest in the conservation of salmon to respond to the DCAL consultation which closes on the 10th July 2012.
"It is important that all those with an interest in the conservation of this iconic species to respond to the current consultation. The survey can be accessed at http://www.dcalni.gov.uk/salmon_conservation_consultation and takes only 5 minutues to complete.
Whether it is for the recreational angler or for those who benefit from angling tourism the protection of the salmon has become a significant issue. I have campaigned for protection for the species since entering the Assembly 1 year ago and this consultation is only the start of a process to protect all our idigenous species for future generations to enjoy.
