Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kennedy has confirmed that an initial meeting has taken place between representatives of the Taioseach’s Office and the families and representatives of the victims of the Kingsmills massacre.
The Newry & Armagh representative said;
“I can confirm that a meeting took place this morning in Bessbrook and that it was a constructive meeting at which the families were able to relate their stories to the Officials and re-state their demand for justice.
It was attended by senior officials from the Taoiseach’s Office and was attended by the families of the victims, FAIR, myself and my Party colleague Councillor Andy Moffett.
This was a preparatory meeting in advance of a further meeting with Enda Kenny which I am confident will take place in Dublin in early September.
I welcome this progress and look forward to assisting the families in their quest to get justice for ten innocent men murdered 36 years ago, purely because of their religion.”
